Here is something I put together early this morning (2am);


BC$ 101:

First off, the ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 10, and SEC can not lose their BC$ status, because they have tie-ins with a BC$ Bowl;
Rose Bowl- Pac 10 & Big 10
Fiesta Bowl- Big 12
Sugar Bowl- SEC
Orange Bowl- ACC

So the Big East is the only current BC$ conference who could lose their Auto Bid of the current Big 6, because they have no tie-in to a BC$ Bowl.

Next, with the reform that were made that started in 2006, the BC$ said they would have no less than 5 and no more than 7 BC$ conferences, thus opening up the chances of adding one more BC$ conference than the current 6. They made standards and set time tables for evaluation periods.
Standards:
1) Highest BC$ ranking in the final BC$ Polls
2) Number of ranked teams finishing in the Polls
3) Strength of conference according to the BC$ Computers

and the back door- Special Exemption Clause

In order to gain an Auto Bid a conference must finish in the top 6 of the 3 areas over the 4 year evaluation period or receive a special exemption.

So lets see how the MWC did in the 1st year of the 2008-2011 evaluation period:
2008-
1) Utah finish ranked #6, which means the MWC came in at #4 (behind the Big 12, SEC, & Pac 10)

2) MWC had 3 ranked teams in the Coaches Poll, #4 Utah, #7 TCU, and #21 BYU: But it is ranked on a point system, #1 is 25 points, #2 is 24 points, #3 is 23 points... #25 is 1 point. So the MWC ended up with 46 points ranking #4 (behind the Big 12 76 points, SEC 72 points, and Pac 10 49 points)

3) This one the deck will always be stacked against the MWC, I have heard they finish 6th and also 7th (not sure which is right)

So as of 2008 the MWC is well on their way to gaining a BC$ Auto Bid...

Now factor Boise St in the totals...
1) Stays the same, Boise St finished #9 which was behind Utah's #6

2) The MWC would move to #3, gaining an extra 13 points from Boise St pushing the MWC point total to 59 points

3) I've heard that with Boise St factored in the MWC was 4th and in the other site they said 5th, but either way the MWC would be in the top 6.



Now look were the MWC stands currently in 2009-
1) #6 TCU would place the MWC in 5th place (behind the SEC, Big 12, Big 10, and Pac 10)

2) MWC would have 27 points, which make ranks them at 7th place (behind SEC 71 points, Big 10 45 points, Big 12 39 points, Pac 10 38 points, ACC 35 points, and Big East 34 points)

3) 7th place currently


Now factor in Boise St-
1) Still 5th

2) 2nd place with 48 points

3) Not sure, but I would bet at least in the top 6


Now these categories each work in a running total from what I understand over the 4 year period... So if these were the end of the year numbers for 2009 the running totals would be...
1) 4 + 5 = 9 / 2 = 4.5 ranking (SEC 1.5, Big 12 1.5, Pac 10 3.5, Big 10 4.0, WAC 6.0, Big East 7.0, and ACC 8.0)... So the MWC would be 5th place

2) 5th place with 73 points (SEC 143 points, Big 12 115 points, Pac 10 87 points, Big 10 86 points, ACC 54 points, Big East 43 points, WAC 34 points, and C-USA 10 points)

3) Who knows???

With Boise St added-
1) Same place in 5th, but Big East would move to 6.0 and ACC to 7.0

2) Move up to 3rd place with 107 points

3) Again who knows???


As it looks right now the MWC maybe able to meet the grade on their own, but adding Boise St leaves no doubt according to the numbers.

Dennis, that is one of the reason I want Boise St in the MWC. "Humble Pie" or Boise St proves they are right, either way it would be decided on the field or court. IMO, I thing a lot of this started in 2003 when BYU fans were talking about how BYU was going to kick Boise St rear end. Then after getting thumped by Boise St, they were saying it was a fluke game... Plus I really think they in some way think BYU is going to by their rival....

Did you know Karl Benson is a Boise St Grad? So he kind of lets his pride for the school he graduated from sway his homer-ism side out of him a times, IMO. It got to be hard on him at times, with Boise St wanting to leave the WAC and I thinks he see it coming, then what will he a the WAC do then???
